Walking by Astor Place this afternoon, I stumbled on an odd scene.

Stacked up were all these large plastic zip-ties, the type the NYPD sometimes uses as handcuffs at protests. I did not see any mass of cops and the ties were separated into stacks of different colors.

It turns out that it's part of an art project from the Animus Art Collective http://animusart.com , that is part of this year's Summer Streets program from the NYC Department of Transportation. http://nyc.gov/summerstreets
